Walking & diabetics

Walking is the most overprescribed advice in obesity. Walking is cardiovascular exercise. It supports heart health. It adds years to your life. I don't dispute that.

But for someone with obesity or diabetes walking alone does not move the needle. Clinically or on the scale. Here's why?

Walking mobilizes a large body. Hunger spikes significantly in response. You eat more especially carbohydrates. Cardio does not stimulate muscle building.

So that surplus becomes fat, not muscle. Over 3 to 5 years, your weight stays the same but your fat percentage rises and your muscle mass quietly drops.

For most diabetic patients it compounds further. Walking chronically depletes protein and electrolytes. Both are essential for blood sugar regulation. That depletion drives more hunger, More eating, Worsening insulin resistance.

Walking didn't cause this. Treating it as a treatment did. What actually reverses obesity and improves diabetes

→ Strength training - rebuilds muscle, restores metabolism

→ Adequate protein - protects muscle, controls hunger

→ Electrolyte correction - crucial for diabetics

→ Walking - use it daily but don’t depend on it as treatment

Movement is not medicine. The right movement is.
