Less food - Affects Sugar?

Less food doesn’t always mean less sugar. This is one of the most confusing Diabetes experiences - “I barely ate… so why are my sugars high?”

Here’s why it happens. The liver releases stored glucose when

  • meals are skipped
  • stress levels are high
  • sleep is poor
  • the body feels “starved”
This is the dawn phenomenon or liver dumping. It’s the body’s way of protecting you but for diabetics, it raises sugar levels unexpectedly. Solutions that usually help
  •  regular meal timing
  •  balanced food portions
  •  a short walk after meals
  •  strength training to improve insulin action
  •  better sleep habits
It’s not about eating less. It’s about eating right and consistently.
