Is Insulin better than Diabetes Medicine? This is one of the most common (and most misunderstood) questions I hear. Here’s the simple medical truth
When insulin is a MUST
Insulin is life-saving for
→ Type 1 diabetes
→ LADA (Type 1.5)
→ Pregnant women with uncontrolled sugars
→ People with kidney/liver complications
In these cases, insulin is essential and safe.
But for MOST Type 2 diabetics… Insulin can actually work against the body. Because it adds water + fat + sugar into cells.
This leads to
↳ Weight gain
↳ Higher inflammation
↳ Worsening insulin resistance
↳ Increased risk of heart blockages
(insulin is a growth hormone)
I see this repeatedly in my practice People get dependent on insulin but don’t
change their lifestyle, and complications continue to rise.
So what’s ideal?
Neither “only insulin” nor “only tablets”.
For Type 2 diabetes, the real solution is
Lifestyle → Diet → Exercise → Sleep → Gut health → Stress correction
Tablets are often safer and more predictable than insulin.
Many modern medicines even help with weight loss and improving insulin
resistance.
Insulin, on the other hand, can cause frequent hypos and silent internal
changes most people aren’t aware of. Insulin is not “bad”... Tablets are not “magic”. Both have their place.
But what really Reverses Diabetes is changing how you live, not just what you
inject or swallow.
