• Diabetes medicines - typically stopped during the fast
• Insulin: long-acting insulin may need to be reduced by half initially and
then stopped
• Blood pressure medicines - may need reduction or temporary stopping
• Thyroid or hormonal medicines - continue
• Uric acid medicines - continue (levels may rise during fasting)
• Supplements - can usually be paused
• Heart medicines - continue
• Gallbladder removed - take an antacid morning and night
