Stopping Carbs is not the Goal. One of the biggest mistakes in Diabetes Management is making "No roti, No rice" the goal. Yes, cutting carbs may lower blood sugar temporarily. But for how long can you avoid them completely?
The more restrictive the approach, the more dependent you become on that
restriction. And when you eventually start eating carbs again, your sugar
levels may spike even more. The real goal should be metabolic flexibility helping your body handle
carbohydrates better, not fear them.
This means
- Adjusting carb intake based on your activity levels
- Eating a little more when you're highly active and a little less when you're not
- Using occasional fasting after periods of overeating
- Depleting stored glycogen through resistance training, longer walks, or short fasting periods when appropriate
Diabetes management is not about eliminating an entire food group forever. It's about building a metabolism that can adapt. If improving metabolic flexibility is your goal, don't just build a list of
foods to avoid. Build a body that can handle them better.
