People either eat too much or nothing before exercise. Neither is necessary. If you’re exercising, have something small about an hour before you start. A banana, a couple of almonds, a date with a few nuts.
The idea is simple - give your body some readily available fuel so you can
exercise comfortably.
During longer workouts, hydration and electrolytes matter too. Sodium is
especially important when you’re sweating for a long time. A little salt in
water or an appropriate electrolyte drink can help. And if your workout is long or intense, you may need additional energy from
food, such as fruit or another easily digestible carbohydrate source.
The key is not to keep eating throughout the workout just because you’re
exercising. For a short, easy session, you usually don’t need much fuel. For a longer
endurance session, your requirements are different.
Think of it this way
Before → a small amount of Food.
During → Fluids & Electrolytes.
Long sessions → Additional energy when needed.
Don’t overcomplicate it. Fuel according to the workout you’re actually doing.
