Getting older gracefully

Getting Older Doesn’t Mean You Have To Accept Feeling Weaker. If you’re a Woman >40, you may have noticed that your routine hasn’t changed much, but your body feels different.

The same stairs leave you more tired. Carrying groceries takes more effort. Your belly is growing, even though you’re doing everything you used to do. Before you blame yourself for not doing enough, I’d like you to pay attention to your muscle health.

As women approach menopause, falling estrogen levels can contribute to changes in muscle strength and fat distribution. Diabetes can add to the risk of muscle loss. Of course, tiredness and weakness can have other causes too. That’s why understanding what’s happening comes before deciding what to do.

The best part is that you can work towards rebuilding your strength.
  • If you have Diabetes, work with your doctor to manage your Blood Sugar.
  • Include enough Protein in your meals, with the amount suited to your health and activity.
  • Get persistent fatigue assessed and address any nutritional deficiencies with guidance.
  • Gradually introduce strength training two or three times a week.
And please, you don’t need to start with heavy dumbbells. Choose a resistance you can manage, learn the movement properly, and increase it as you get stronger. Your first achievement may be climbing the stairs more comfortably or carrying your shopping without needing a break.

These changes matter. They make everyday life easier. So, alongside watching your weight, start noticing your strength. Give your Muscles the attention they need to support you through the years ahead.
