Ultra processed Food : The New Liver Destroyer

We warn kids about alcohol, shouldn't we warn them about this too?  We banned alcohol because it kills.

It destroys the liver, leads to bleeding, and can end lives. But here’s the uncomfortable truth:

The same kind of liver failure is happening today, not from alcohol, but from ultra-processed foods.

The leading reason for liver transplants used to be alcohol. Now? Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is almost equal to alcohol-related disease.

And the scariest part?
It’s no longer just older adults. I’m seeing 25- and 30-year-olds needing liver transplants.

Why?
Because McDonald’s, KFC, and packaged junk dominate our diets. And unlike alcohol, society has accepted them as “guilty pleasures.”

But here’s the thing:
Once-in-a-while is not the same for everyone. For some it’s once a week, for others it’s every day.

So my question is, if we treat alcohol as dangerous (and rightly so), why don’t we treat ultra-processed food with the same seriousness?

This isn’t about fear. It’s about awareness.

Because the choices we normalize today will decide the health of an entire generation tomorrow.
