We keep talking about “weight loss”… But we rarely talk about why weight gain happens in the first place. And the truth is… It’s not about the diet at all. It’s about the years of habits, environment, and self-esteem that silently shape the body. Here are a few realities we rarely talk about
1. Obesity is a 20–30 year story
Not a 3-month diet problem.
India now has 14.4 million obese children. A simple 200-calorie home meal
becomes 800 calories when eaten outside. And the 150 calories we used to burn while walking to buy food? That effort has
disappeared. These small shifts add up over decades.
2. The problem is not weight, it’s shape
A person can look “normal” on the scale…
But have a dangerously high fat percentage. Women especially struggle more - Same BMI as men, yet much higher fat %. Which means organs stay under greater stress. And gaining even 15 kg above your natural baseline? That already puts your
system in a threat zone.
3. The food industry doesn’t want you to stop eating
Portions are richer. Menus are designed
to make us order more. As income rises, people stop checking
prices and the quantity quietly increases. Slowly, food starts behaving like a drug. And most people don’t realize it.
4. And then comes the real issue - self-esteem
This is the toughest part.... Temporary motivation never works. Long-term change comes only when you decide → “I want to become the best
version of myself.”If your self-esteem is strong, the number on the scale stops scaring you. Your choices become calm, consistent, and intentional.
And like I often say → Most people dig many 3-foot pits… Instead of one deep
10-foot pit. Results come from depth, not dabbling.
