Your Spouse is not your Calorie Calculator. Just because your Spouse eats more than you doesn't mean you should. And just because your spouse eats less doesn't mean you should too. Your body's calorie needs are determined by biology not by the person sitting across the table. But the body doesn't work on comparison. It works on physiology.
In general, men tend to have more muscle mass than women and muscle is
expensive tissue. Even when you're sitting, working, or sleeping, muscle requires energy to
maintain itself. That's one reason a 75–80 kg man often needs more calories
than a 55–60 kg woman. But here's where many people go wrong.
They assume everyone of the same gender has the same calorie requirement. Not true at all.
People with excellent muscle mass who need more calories than
sedentary ones. I've also seen men who overestimate how much they should eat
simply because they're men.
Your calorie requirement depends on
→ Muscle mass
→ Activity levels
→ Age
→ Hormonal health
→ Metabolic health not just body weight
So the next time you're at the dining table, don't compare your plate with your
spouse's. Compare today's choices with your own Health Goals. Your body doesn't care what someone else is eating. It only responds to what
you consistently feed it.
