Are Fitness influencers taking you for a ride? During most conversations, we tend to easily take health advice from someone because they look fit. Now, there are some very good fitness professionals out there. But before copying someone’s routine, I would like to know a little more than whether their abdominal muscles are visible.
What worries me is our enthusiasm after watching one reel. By Monday, we have
ordered supplements, given up rice and signed up for a workout that makes
sitting on the toilet an expedition. All this before asking whether the advice was meant for us.
People go from one reel straight to hard
work. The education and guidance get skipped.
Before you commit, ask
- What qualifies this person to advise me?
- Have they asked about my health, age and activity?
- Can they explain why this plan would suit me?
I have far more confidence in someone who asks a few questions than someone who
promises a transformation before knowing my name. Someone else’s results can be encouraging. But you have your own body, medical
history and everyday life to consider.
Thoda patience. Understand what you need, get qualified guidance, then put
in the effort.
You will still be living in this body long after the before-and-after
photograph.
