Don’t dismiss every Memory lapse as Ageing. Asking the same question repeatedly. Struggling to find familiar words. Frequently forgetting where things belong. An occasional lapse happens to all of us. But when these changes become frequent or affect everyday life, they deserve medical attention.
They don’t automatically mean Alzheimer’s. Other conditions, including some
treatable ones, can affect memory too. What I want you to understand is that caring for your brain also means caring
for your Metabolic Health. Diabetes and high blood pressure are associated with a higher risk of dementia.
Researchers are also studying how insulin resistance in the brain may
contribute to Alzheimer’s.
You may hear this called type 3 diabetes, but it is a research term, not an
established medical diagnosis.
There are practical steps you can take
- Manage your Blood sugar & Blood pressure.
- Stay physically active and include strength training.
- Give sleep the attention it deserves.
- Keep learning through music, a language or a new skill.
- Stay connected with people.
These habits can support brain health and may help reduce risk. They cannot
guarantee prevention.
